WiFi

  • Please check your Welcome email for the WiFi network and password.
  • If the internet is not working, double-check that you are on the correct network.
  • If you still cannot connect, unplug the router for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
  • Still having issues? Give us a call at (949) 649-3828 for some additional support.

Refrigerator

  • It can take 24 to 48 hours for the refrigerator to cool all the food and other items stored inside. This is usually the case when it goes from being completely empty to being filled with a full load of groceries. This is also especially true if you add room-temperature liquid goods, like sodas and beer.
  • To help speed up the process, try putting your water bottles and freezer-friendly food into the freezer. Store them inside for 20 to 30 minutes to chill them. Then, transfer them back to the refrigerator.

Dishwasher

  • Use only the dishwasher pods or liquid detergent in the dishwasher. DO NOT use regular dishwashing soap in the dishwasher.

Laundry

  • You will find the stackable washer and dryer in the laundry closet in the main floor hallway.
  • Do not stuff and overload the washing machine when using it. Doing so may break the machine. In addition, it doesn’t clean well when it is too crowded to allow full movement.
  • Do not add laundry that is soiled with solids and/or large particles.
  • Use only laundry detergent intended for washing machines.
  • Clean out the dryer lint tray and discard all lint into the trash.

Heat & Air Conditioning

  • There are two temperature controls in the house. You can find the main floor thermostat (main floor and basement) on wall next to basement door, across from the kitchen. The upstairs thermostat is located on the wall next to the arcade games at the top of the stair landing, in the game loft.
  • The default temperatures are 76 degrees on Cool setting from April through October and 69 degrees on Heat setting from November through March.
  • Please keep all open windows and doors closed to keep the interior temperature of the house comfortable.
  • Most, if not all, cabins in the Smokies are built with electric heat pumps that require the atmospheric air to be above 40 degree Fahrenheit to work properly. Under very rare circumstances, when the weather gets into the 30s or below, our heat pump may not be able to heat the home above the 50s. In the event that this happens, please use the emergency space heaters (in closets or dressers) or extra quilts and fleeces (if electrical power goes out) until our heating system starts operating again.
  • You must keep all windows and exterior doors closed at all times to keep the bugs out, house cool, and control the interior humidity levels. Due to our area’s high humidity and your constant use of air conditioning inside the home, leaving the doors and windows open will cause the HVAC system to freeze over AND cause water damage to the walls, ceilings, and electronic door locks with condensation build-up. As such, the HVAC system will automatically turn off if the windows/doors are left open.

Grill

  • Cabin has a park grill located right outside adjacent to the firepit in the backyard.

Pool

  • Swimming pools can potentially cause bodily harm and possible death if not used properly. You are fully responsible for supervising ALL guests, including anyone who was directly or indirectly invited by you. Please use the pool at your own risk.
  • Be vigilant at ALL times in looking after children and anyone who cannot swim.
  • You are responsible for the safety and maintenance of the pool. Please inform us if you suspect anything is not functioning properly.
  • DO NOT touch the enclosed pool equipment without permission. If you wish to change the pool temperature, please contact us.
  • Do not put ANY small dive/children’s toys into the pool or hot tub. While playing with these in the pool may seem harmless, they always end up damaging our filters and pool pump. As a result, we check our filters and pool pump after EVERY guest’s departure. If we find foreign objects in our pool systems, we will charge you $100 or more for the damage fee.
  • Do not bring pets or any sharp/small objects into the pool. We prohibit the use of glass dinnerware or drinkware at the pool area. Rinse off before using the pool.
  • The swimming pool undergoes weekly cleaning and maintenance. During your stay, please empty the skimmer daily. Keep all floaties out of the pool when not in use.
  • You are responsible for the safety/maintenance of pool equipment. Hence, please contact us ASAP if you suspect anything is not functioning properly.
  • Pool Motion Alarm: To swim in the pool, the alarm must be set to SWIM mode. An adult must move the switches to the SWIM and ON position. The LED should flash white while on Swim mode.
  • If the alarm is sounding, immediately check the pool FIRST for any unsafe condition. If the pool is clear of danger, push the switch button to work mode at RESET position. Also, please ensure the water level is at the midpoint of the filter basket. If the water level is too high or too low, the alarm may be triggered.

Hot Tub

  • Call us if you have any questions regarding the operation of the hot tub. We normally set its temperature to 100 degrees.
  • Keep the hot tub covered and locked when not in use. Do not sit or stand on the hot tub cover. There is a list of safety rules posted next to the hot tub. Please read over these before entering the hot tub.
  • Maximum capacity is 6. Do not cause the hot tub to overflow as you will need to refill the hot tub with COLD water. If you do refill the tub, please DO NOT allow water to be sprayed on the walls or deck. Doing so will cause damage to the wood cabin.
  • Do not twist the jet valves OFF. They should just be a half-turn open or closed.
  • Use the colored hot tub towels provided, NOT the white bath towels.
  • Do not use any glassware near or in the hot tub.
  • Do not add any substances, such as dish soap and bath salts, into the hot tub.
  • Rinse off before using the hot tub to avoid creating an oily film in the water.
  • While the hot tub undergoes regular maintenance, incidents sometimes occur. If the hot tub or any of our other Mighty Chickadee house features is not working properly, please contact us ASAP so that we can fix the issue.

Fire Pit

  • We do not supply the wood. You can buy firewood at most local grocery stores and gas stations.
  • NEVER use the fire pit during windy conditions.
  • DO NOT use lighter fluid, gasoline, and/or any other flammable fluids to start the fire.
  • NEVER leave fire unattended. When finished, extinguish the fire completely with water until there’s no steam.

Trash

  • Take all tied up garbage bags to dispose of inside the trash cans located inside locked bear cages. Keep this bear cage locked to avoid wildlife issues.
  • If you fill up your trash cans mid-stay, please message us to schedule next day trash pick up.
  • ALL garbage must be placed inside the bear cages on the morning of check out. If the garbage cans are full, please tie up your remaining bags, leave them neatly in the kitchen, and LET US KNOW ASAP so that we can make arrangements with the trash company to complete trash pick up inside the kitchen.
