When the refrigerator goes from completely empty to being filled with a full load of groceries upon your arrival, it can take 24-48 hours to cool all of the groceries. This is especially true if you add room temperature goods, like sodas and beer.
To help speed up the process, try adding water bottles and freezer friendly food to the freezer for 20-30 minutes to chill them before transferring them back to the refrigerator.
Use dishwasher pods or liquid detergent in the dishwasher only. DO NOT use regular dishwashing soap in the dishwasher.
Select your settings and press Start, and the display will say “Close the Door.” Once you close the door, the dishwasher will run.
The washer and dryer are located in the kitchen closet next to the refrigerator.
Do not stuff and overload the washing machine when using it. It may break the machine (and it doesn’t clean as well when it is too crowded to allow full movement).
Do not add laundry that is soiled with solids and/or large particles. Rinse off as much of the solids and particles as possible in the bathtub or with the garden hose (located at the front of the house) before adding it into the washing machine.
Only use laundry detergent intended for washing machines.
Clean out the dryer lint tray and discard all lint into the trash.
Heat & Air Conditioning
Main House: The normal house temperature is set at 63 degrees on heat setting during the colder seasons. To change the temperature, just press the up or down arrows to the desired target temperature. NOTE that the cottage can get a little too warm if you set the temperature higher than 65 degrees.
Upstairs Bedrooms: Each bedroom has its own heating and cooling systems. To use, please refer to the instruction manual located in the top dresser drawers. Please turn off the units when you check out.
Game Shed: The game shed has its own heating and cooling system. To use, please refer to the instruction manual located in the drawer located to the right of the sink. Please turn off the unit when not in use.
Charcoal is not supplied. You can buy charcoal at most local grocery stores.
Dispose of your coals once they have completely cooled off. There is a coal bucket provided by the grill for your convenience. (Do not bag them or dispose of them if they are still hot.)
Call us if you have any questions regarding the operation of the hot tub. It is normally set to 100 degrees.
Keep the hot tub covered and locked when not in use. Do not sit or stand on the hot tub cover. A list of safety rules is posted next to the hot tub. Please read over these before entering the hot tub.
Maximum capacity is 4. Do not cause the hot tub to overflow as you will need to refill the hot tub with COLD water. If you do refill the tub, please DO NOT allow water to be sprayed on the walls or deck as it will cause damage to the wood cabin.
Do not twist the jet valves OFF. It should just be turned a half turn open or closed.
Use the colored hot tub towels provided, NOT the white bath towels.
Do not use any glassware near or in the hot tub.
Do not add any substances into the hot tub, such as dish soap and bath salts.
Rinse off before using the hot tub to avoid creating an oily film in the water.
If you notice that the water is slightly discolored, has a brown film on top, and/or small black specs at the bottom, this is normal due to the minerals found in well water. We assure you the hot tub is clean and the chemicals are balanced. Prior to every guest arrival, we have the hot tub fully drained, cleaned, and sanitized and the chemicals replenished.
While the hot tub is routinely serviced, incidents sometimes occur. If you have any problems with the hot tub not working properly, please contact us ASAP so that we can have the problem resolved.
Wood is not supplied. You can buy firewood at most local grocery stores and gas stations.
NEVER use during windy conditions.
DO NOT use lighter fluid, gasoline, or any other flammable fluids to start the fire.
NEVER leave fire unattended. When finished, extinguish the fire completely with water until there’s no steam.
